50th Anniversary Wallhanging Project

The goal is to embroider two wallhangings in convent stitch (bokhara couching) similar in style to the embroidered tapestries of the 15th century. The preliminary design is of the arms of the king and queen surrounded by the personal arms of the first two hundred kings and queens. The list of East Kingdom Royals and their heraldry can be found here.

The individual arms will be 2" wide by 2.4" tall. The approximate size of the wallhangings will be 5' x 6.5' each.

Timeline

March 2010: Assemble the blazons of all of the royals
May 2010: Create scaleable version of all the emblazons
January 2011: 2 roses, 25 devices done
January 2012: 5 roses, 52 devices done
January 2013: 8 roses, 80 devices done
January 2014: 2 crowns, start laurel wreath 105 devices done
January 2015: 50% laurel wreath, 132 devices done
January 2016: laurel wreath, 160 devices done
January 2017: 1/2 text, 185 devices done, start appliqueing elements to background
January 2018: Wallhangings fully assembled and ready to display
