On sitting down once
again to watch the trailer
for Paul’s Passchendaele
South for the winter:
Wild poetries now take flight.
Textbooks watch, grounded.
In the picture frame
young ghosts wish for better lives,
not seeing this one.
Hwæt!—a way to start
a tale. Then add heroes and
throw in a dragon.
Lo, the bright goblet!
Lo, the fearless warrior!
I left mine at home.
Alone in the sky,
the moon tries to lighten up,
but no one’s watching.
grass tickles your ear
while above you drifting clouds
brush infinity
Once upon a time,
happily ever after,
they lived, reading books.
Coffee is warm and
smells good and tastes better and
I would like some more.
