Undergraduate courses:
  • Linguistic Theory (LING 419)

           An examination of the scientific basis of linguistic theory. The first half of the course looks at the nature
           of scientific theories and the second half at the nature of linguistic theory

  • Introduction to Semantics and Pragmatics (LING 370)

            Introduction to the study of meaning (semantics) and how meaning is modulated by use (pragmatics)
           (Chapters 1 - 12 of Grammatical Structure and its Interpretation)

 

Graduate courses:

  • Formal Method (LING 560)

            Introduction to the basic mathematics used in semantics. (Chapters 1 - 10 of Sets, Orders and Lattices)

  • Formal Semantics (LING 660) 

            A graduate seminar on topics in semantics which changes from year to year. The topics include: tense,
            aspect, plurality, reciprocity, among others.
