AMW XII
Up Participants Sponsors Program

The cement and concrete industries continue to face issues concerning sustainability, with regard to both their carbon footprint and their use of natural resources. The very successful Anna Maria Workshop XI (The 50% Solution) dealt extensively with the technical issues arising from portland cement substitution rates of 50% or higher, with a particular focus on high volume fly ash concretes. For Anna Maria Workshop XII, the aim is to extend this discussion to more complex systems, and the use of less conventional or novel technologies.

Topics to be discussed will include, but are not limited to:

·        Blended cements, including portland-limestone cements

·        Alkali activated systems

·        Non-portland cements (high alumina cements, supersulfated cements, etc)

·        Use of pozzolans derived from non-traditional sources

·        Ternary, quaternary … concrete mixtures

·        Quality control of ‘less forgiving’ systems

·        Acceptance criteria other than fc at 28 days

·        Other related issues submitted by potential participants, pending approval

The purpose of the workshop will be to bring together people from the different sectors involved (engineers, educators, researchers, specifiers, material producers) to discuss these technical issues. The goal is to provide input on future directions in both research and practice.
